I bought a strand of multi-coloured sapphires with actually very few blue ones on it. I decided to match up a few of the colours to make a multi-coloured pair. It's unusual, and a great talking point as they are all sapphires and illustrate the range of colours beautifully. It looks lovely, and I know I can't make them again, not unless I come across such a wonderful strand of gems again!

The amethysts I bought for a commission piece of a bracelet. I had a few left over, but due to the holes, wasn't sure of how to use them, they work well in a double-stranded bracelet. However, flicking through a book, I came across a similar looking Elizabethan design, and realised just how I could use these pretty stones. I'm very proud of the final product.

The quality of the details on these charms is breathtaking. I had to make them into earrings, but wanted to make sure none of the glory of these pieces were lost, simplicity was the only way.

I love these white opals, although they don't photograph well, I had to set them to get the maximum out of the fire that sparks off these stones!

Hawk's eye is one of those unusual stones you don't see too often. It has a lovely chatoyancy (like silk) in a grey-blue that makes a stunning statement. I wanted the set to be as simple as possible, and devised a new form of setting to stop the stones rocking.

I adore simplicity, and there is nothing finer than an elegant drop. Therefore I wanted to keep the setting simple, to accentuate the stones.

I love these mini-pyrite squares. I didn't want them to loose their shapes, by stacking them, for example, but neither did just one look right. So I layered them up, to a stunning effect. Good job I didn't go for the large size of gem, pyrite is very heavy! These are just the perfect weight though.

Solar quartz are just stunning. Made from slices cut from stalactites, it has such a snowy, striking look that I wanted to make sure as much of the stone was visible as possible.

I really wanted to create a special range of jewellery, and the most precious gems
available were the obvious choice. However, as I wanted to create an affordable range,
I
wanted to distribute the stones within the pieces, while still giving them the maximum
impact.
This was partially inspired by some incredible 'triangular' stones I had found, that
I wanted
to use in a special a piece as possible. These became earrings in the Oh My! range.
So, I
decided to use rock crystal. Because of the high-sparkle impact of the stones, and
the
refractive qualities, it takes the rubies and really emphasises them to the max. I
went for
these larger rock crystals, and not the stones that inspired me to create a different
look.
Stunning, and very exiting! Next step, diamonds :)

These rose beads are just so delicately carved I wanted them to be shown with no clutter
or
frills. I wound the pin around the back of the bead to prevent the bead from slipping
around,
and making sure the rose is always visible.

I love Karen Hill Tribe Silver, and these wonderful beads are a lovely example. Each bead has such a delicate pattern. I wanted to add red, the classic colour of love. So what else, but garnets to top and tail the hearts?

I'm always looking for something different, so when I discovered the joys of making a 'beady bead' (a big bead made from smaller beads), I just had to give it a go. I adore this technique because you get a delicate, lacy effect in the large bead, with detail from the smaller ones. I used solid silver wire to create these, I didn't want to spoil the piece by using anything else.

These emeralds are delicious. Large, chunky, and very gorgeously green. Just where are you every going to find a bracelet with this many carats of emeralds? When I got them, it was tempting to make a necklace, but I decided on a bracelet because it would be just so unusual. The stones have wonderful faceting on the edges, so setting them that way allowed the facets to really shine. This setting also has the advantage of allowing you to view the whole stone. Stunning, and fun!

These labrodite stones fell into my possession, and I was in love. Never have I seen stones with such labradorescence, it covers the whole surface on both sides. So, I needed a simple setting to show off the quality of these gorgeous stones.
