Inspiration for pieces explained: Black and White Bracelet

I adore these stones. They have such an unusual cut, and the frosted/faceted quality of them is just stunning, and subtle. I added the black agates to give a lovely contrast.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Labrodite and Vintage Glass Bracelet

When I found this labrodite, I had to have it. Labrodite contains glimmering purples, greens, blues and yellows, and these beads are simply the best I have ever owned. Now I could have just re-strung, but I decided to get the maximum out of each stone I needed to add contrast and darkness, with the lovely vintage glass. This allows you to view each labrodite as an individual, and revel in their stunning beauty.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Black Night Necklace

I adore these stones. They have such an unusual cut, and the frosted/faceted quality of them is just stunning, and subtle. Although I have created pieces that insert different stones or colours into the piece, I had to make this all black. It is now so glamorous I think it would grace any occasion, it has just enough subtly and sparkle to give you an air of mystery. And I have a confession to make. 'Dark Night' does refer to the Batman film. Well, on their own, these little dark delights look like little bats!

Inspiration for pieces explained: Multi-Coloured Quartz Earrings

I adore these earrings because the colours and cuts of the gems are just so original! Each stone is shaped like a little anvil, but with a soft, frosted interior, and sharp, glistening facets. The colours range from clear to black, giving a lovely depth to these pretty, dangly and flirty earrings.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Black and Cloudy Gold Necklace

Cloudy amber is very striking, and goes perfectly with black agate, so I couldn't resist pairing them for this piece.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Top and Bottom Banded Agate Earrings

I adore banded agate, and when I saw these beads I knew they would make the prefect earring. The Victorians loved agate, but they tended to use the blacker stones. I love the contrast in these with the black surrounding the white stripe.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Agate Necklace

I love agate, and couldn't resist these beads. As they are large, I decided to put them on a solid chain, and make it a long length. This piece can be worn doubled up.

I love jet, and wanted to do something special with these pieces. Although they are oddments, taken from Victorian jewellery, I think they work very well in this necklace.

I adore Victorian Whitby Jet, and these are such a wonderful shape! Probably from a necklace, I found these beads in a lot several years ago, and after much debate decided that they needed to be earrings. Lovely!

Inspiration for pieces explained: Black Sparkle Stretchy Bracelet

I was given a vintage glass necklace with stunning beads, each contains all the colours of the rainbow. As the overall effect was rather too much, I decided to create a bracelet with black agate and the pretty glass beads. It works really well as the gleaming black grounds and emphasises the rainbow shafts of light that come off the pretty stones.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Garnet and Vintage Black Glass Bracelet

This is another example of beads I have had for a long time, and tried variations to create the perfect look. I tried the garnets with the black, and was instantly entranced by the dark, rich look. The sparkle you get from the garnets suits the matt black of the glass beads so well.
