Inspiration for pieces explained: Green Leaf Necklace

I found the vintage mother-of-pearl leaves at a Vintage Fair on a disintegrating necklace. I had to have them! I paired them with the peridot because it is such a living, green colour. I love the set so much I made another just for me!

Inspiration for pieces explained: Summer Flower Earrings

I found the amethyst flowers at a supplier, and immediately bought them without a clear plan of what to do with them. I also bought some carved peridot leaves, but the effect was somewhat underwhelming, I felt it needed something more. So I added these marquise cut peridots. They have the depth of colour and the sparkle to turn these earrings into something really special.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Peridot and Pearl Necklace

I adore peridot as it has such a fresh, clean green. It reminds me of spring, when every leaf is brand new. Putting it with pearls just emphasises the clarity of the colour, making a very fresh, but rich, piece. I wanted to make a luxurious necklace from these stones, and needed to frame them with pearls because I wanted the peridots to really shine. And boy, do they!

Inspiration for pieces explained: Peridot Emerald Cut Drop Earrings

I love peridot, and was amazed at the clarity and colour of these stones. I didn't want to clutter up the stone with additional features, simplicity is best in this case, and it gives the stones the chance to shine.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Grass Green Bracelet

I love peridot, it's such a vibrant, spring green. I created this piece to take advantage of the way peridot and silver zing together. Using a very large chain, and layering on the stones really helps to give this piece a gorgeous look.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Apple Tree Necklace

I have a bracelet I made for myself that has lots of tiny peridot leaves on it. After creating the Tree of Life (http://www.jewellerydragon.com/N22048.htm) necklace I wanted to 'branch out' (ahem) a little, and decided that a tree full of apples and leaves would be perfect.

I had trouble finding such tiny leaves, but I think them combined with the deep-red of the garnet hand-cut 'apples' is just stunning. And I really don't want to sell this piece...

Inspiration for pieces explained: Brushed Silver Necklace

I have had these beads for a while, and found them difficult to use because when you strung them together, they were either too tight to bend the strand, or the stringing material showed. A happy accident of pairing peridot with the silver made me realise they were made for each other, and the necklace was created. I love the brushed silver with the acid green, delicious!

Making jewellery

I've put a new video on YouTube,  of adding peridot beads to a commision bracelet I'm making.

In the video I use head pins to atttach the peridots. As they are so green they stand out really well from the main body of the silver bracelet.

You can also view it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywNK3kk6TK4

My jewellery

Peridot bracelet with leaves

I love this bracelet. I wanted a good peridot bracelet, and decided to make it multi-layered. I love the huge clasp, although it does shrink the size of the bracelet when you are trying to get it on! I also adore the tiny leaves, they give the piece texture.

Although this is from my personal collection, I'm happy to reproduce jewellery if possible. Please get in contact with me at enquiries@jewellerydragon.com

Inspiration for pieces explained
Egyptian Majesty Necklace

This design was inpired by the wonderful collars the Egyptian kings and queens wore.
I love the face that it dangles so well, and the two colours together go fantastically.
