Questions from the curious

How long do pieces take to make?

Not an easy question! Some of the complex, multi-strand pieces take many hours to complete, simple pieces maybe as little as an hour. The thought behind the pieces is often the longest process.

Inspiration for pieces explained

Rustic Mossy Bracelet

These beads came as part of a larger lot, and I just loved the hand-cut feel of them. I decided that a rustic feel was needed for the bracelet.

Inspiration for pieces explained

Victorian and Crystal Cuff Bracelet

I had enough beads to make a simple cuff of all jet beads for this, then disaster struck, and I broke a bead. Although it could be repaired, I knew it would never be good enough.

So instead, I used some vintage rough-cut rock crystal beads to act as spacers between the jet, and allow me to get rid of the broken bead.

I think the end result is amazing, far better than my original plans.

Questions from the curious

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Some is from looking around me, and paying attention to what people are wearing, but mostly I take inspiration from the gemstones I buy. I may keep them for a few months before deciding on what to make form them, and even then I've been known to take apart jewellery if it doesn't work.
