Inspiration for pieces explained: Dark and Light Amethyst Earrings

Amethyst comes in so many different shades, I wanted to celebrate that by pairing up a lucious dark stone with two lavender amethysts to create this lovely pair of earrings.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Antique Shamrock Necklace

I was heavily into Jet at one point, trading on eBay quite a lot. In two separate auctions these were included, and I was entranced by the delicate carving. They are actually bog-oak, oak that was found in bog that has been preserved from many years before, and carved by the Victorians.

It's not been an easy decision to sell these, as I know I won't find them again! Because they are genuine one-offs, I couldn't hope to create earrings, and the delicacy of them meant there was no possibility of creating a bracelet. Although I found them in different lots, I decided that they should stay together, and realising that the double-shamrock had double holes that would easily take a chain the design grew from that.

Other products of my obsession with Jet includes: http://www.jewellerydragon.com/B22009.htm, http://www.jewellerydragon.com/N22009.htm and http://www.jewellerydragon.com/E22006.htm.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Purple Night Necklace

I loved these gemstones from the moment I saw them. The first piece I created was the necklace, feeling that a simple string of the beads would be more effective than grouping them. However, for the earrings, I realised that I could do something similar to the Amethyst Elegant Drop Earrings (http://www.jewellerydragon.com/E22008.htm) and have a 'shooting star' effect.

I think these both work really well as the necklace sits nicely on the collarbone, and because the earrings dangle, they have a lot of life and interest. In each way, they show off the stones perfectly, and work very well.

Inspiration for pieces explained: Elizabethan Pearl Delight Necklace

This started off life as a pearl necklace (although linked, not strung). I wanted to put a single focal bead on it, reminiscent of Elizabethan jewellery, but at the time I only had one size of pearl, so instead I decided to create the frill of pearls instead.

Ironically it still has an Elizabethan style to it, and I'm planning additional versions that include different stones. Suggestions always welcome!
